#WCW ‘Miss Sloane’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw
If you haven’t heard of the mega-talented and stunning Gugu Mbatha-Raw then we don’t know what you’ve been doing with your life! The British actress burst onto the scene back in 2014 in her stunning portrayal of real-life figure Dido Elizabeth Belle in Amma Asante‘s period drama Belle. Since then, Mbatha-Raw has sizzled in films like Free State of Jones, Beyond the Lights, Concussion and most recently the political thriller Miss Sloane. In Miss Sloane, she stars as Esme Manucharian a lobbyist going head to head with the NRA.
However, the 33-year old actress is clearly just getting started. She has just taken on an episode of the critically acclaimed Netflix series Black Mirror and, she will be featured in the upcoming live-action Beauty and The Beast and in Ava DuVernay‘s 2018 film adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time. It’s clear that Ms. Mbatha-Raw has chosen to portray extraordinary characters that are nuanced and exceptional.

1. She appreciates super sunny days because she grew up in Oxfordshire, England where it rained a ton!
2. Gugu is short for Gugulethu which is Zulu for “Our Pride”
3. Mbatha-Raw is obsessed with baths!
She’s learned to “soak the day away” and when she’s traveling she likes to create her own mini-spas with candles, bath salts and music.
4. For her role as Esme in Miss Sloane, Mbatha-Raw went to Washington, D.C. for a sort of lobbying boot camp.
