David Tennant And Freema Agyeman In Doctor Who - The Lazarus Experiment

The Lazarus Experiment was the sixth episode of the third series of the relaunched Doctor Who. The episode starred David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones. Mark Gatiss appeared as Richard Lazarus with Adjoa Andoh as Francine Jones, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Tish Jones, Reggie Yates as Leo Jones and Thelma Barlow as Lady Thaw. The episode was written by Stephen Greenhorn and directed by Richard Clark. It first aired on BBC One on 5th May 2007.

Martha's sister Tish is working for the elderly Professor Richard Lazarus, a man who claims he will change what it is to be human. The Doctor can't let a comment like that go without investigation and he and Martha set off to meet her family at the reception where the Professor is to reveal all to the world.

The Professor's experiment is to rejuvenate himself, and at first it appears he has been successful, emerging from the manipulator as a much younger man. However, the process has caused his DNA to become unstable and before long he begins to mutate into a monstrous prehensile creature and goes on the rampage, draining the life energy from guests at the event. The Doctor and Martha manage to fight back against the creature and believe that Lazarus is now dead. However he has survived and escapes, and the Doctor, Martha and Tish track him down to Southwark Cathedral for a terrifying final showdown.

Meanwhile a mysterious man has been giving information to Francine about how dangerous the Doctor is, information that has come from none other than Harold Saxon himself.

Filming locations for the episode included Cardiff Museum, the Welsh Assembly's Senedd building and Wells Cathedral.

Memorable moment
Letitia "Tish" Jones was a twenty-something PR executive who was propelled into jobs well above her experience level because Harold Saxon was trying to draw her sister Martha Jones— and thus the Tenth Doctor — into his trap. To her own surprise, and her sister's mild suspicion, she was put in charge of the public events that launched Richard Lazarusde-ageing machine. She later worked in Saxon's 10 Downing Street press office. In both capacities, she had significant interaction with the Doctor.

BIOGRAPHY

She then became the head of PR for Richard Lazarus, who made himself look 40 years younger. After the experiment he seduced Tish on the roof of his lab, just as he was about to transform into a life force-draining monster.
Fortunately Martha and the Tenth Doctor arrived in time to save her. After everyone had evacuated the lab, he escaped to a cathedral where he chased Martha and Tish to the top of the tower and tried to kill them but the Doctor saved them by killing the mutated form of Lazarus with soundwaves. She then began to work for Harold Saxon when he became Prime Minister. The fact was he only hired her so that he could get to Martha.
Tish spotted Vivien Rook making her way for an interview with Lucy Saxon, despite Tish's protests that she was not to be disturbed, Vivien wafted her away.
When Martha, the Doctor and Jack Harkness went on the run, Tish, along with her mother and father, were captured and brought to the Valiant. There, they witnessed the Toclafane invasion of Earth.
One year later, Tish was working on the Valiant as a slave with her mum and dad. She and her family tried to break out and stop the Master but they failed at each attempt. She and the rest of her family were present when Martha was brought onto the Valiant, and the Doctor used the psychic power of the entire world to restore himself and defeat the Master.
Following the destruction of the paradox machine, and subsequent reversal of time, Tish and the rest of the Jones family were among the few who remembered the events of the Year That Never Was. (TVThe Sound of Drums / Last of the Time Lords)

PERSONALITY

Tish was intelligent, courageous and kind. She was, however, jealous of Martha.
