David Oyelowo & Gugu Mbatha-Raw Cast in Bad Robot’s ‘God Particle’
Produced by J.J. Abrams ‘God Particle’ is about a crew working on a space station who are fighting for survival after seeing Earth disappear after a collision with the Hadron Collider. The incident causing them to questioning their existence and everything they thought they knew.
Directed by Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah, who is known for a number of acclaimed short films, God Particle has signed its first major stars in David Oyelowo (Selma, The Butler) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Belle, Beyond the Lights).
With negotiations almost complete, there’s no news about other cast members, nor information about the roles Oyelowo or Mbatha-Raw will be playing.
Oyelowo has a slew of films coming up ranging from the Amma Asante directed ‘A United Kingdom’ where he takes the lead as Seretse Khama the first president of Botswana exiled from his country in the 1950’s because of then illegal interracial marriage to Englishwoman Ruth Williams who will be played by Rosamund Pike.
Mbatha-Raw has just reunited with director Gina Prince-Bythewood who she worked with on ‘Beyond the Lights’, (2014) to star in ‘An Untamed State’ written and directed by Prince-Bythewood the adaptation of the critically acclaimed novel by Roxane Gay is about Haitian-American Mireille Jameson vacationing with her husband and child in Haiti gets kidnapped. When her father refuses to pay her ransom she is gang-raped and tortured by her captors and kept imprisoned for 13 days before finally being released.
God Particle is scheduled for a 2017 release.
