GUGU MBATHA-RAW IN BROCK COLLECTION AT THE 2016 BFI LONDON FILM FESTIVAL

Posted on October 06, 2016
Gugu Mbatha-Raw attends the “A United Kingdom” Opening Night Gala screening during the 60th BFI London Film Festival at Odeon Leicester Square in London, England.

It’s sometimes hard to assess what Miss Gugu is wearing, because she’s so pretty it tends to be distracting. But we’re highly trained bitches, so we have less of a problem than the average red-carpet-judging civilian. Pro Tip: Just put your thumb over her face so you can get a better look at the outfit.

Because it’s all a bit overdone, no? If the top didn’t have all that ruching and the skirt didn’t have that fairly ugly trim at the hem, this would be … just okay. To be honest, the pale blue and gold combo appears tough to pull off and a little dated. And we don’t know how Christian Louboutin managed to put out a pair of cheapass-looking gold sandals, but there you go. It’s ironic, because “add a metallic sandal” is probably one of our top 3 bits of advice on how to fix a red carpet look but here, it’s a mistake. A navy blue or oxblood pump would’ve helped a lot in pulling this look together.
